Bresch comments

"We understand that events in recent years have placed a strain on travel; from lockdowns and restrictions through to rising inflation, it hasn’t been easy. What is clear, however, is that the demand for winter sports holidays remains incredibly resilient. In January of this year, our Winter 2023/24 preview sales opening was our highest-ever grossing preview, with sales revenue up 45% versus the same event in 2022..."

Families and Activities

Amidst pressing concerns, one thing stands true: holidays bring us together. This upcoming season, a remarkable 71% of UK bookings at Club Med ski resorts are families, reflecting their vital role. Families, comprising 65% of our British bookings, have always been at our core, enjoying tailored experiences and childcare options. The survey underscores that 61% of parents would use our kids clubs, with nearly half willing to leave their children for 3-5 hours daily during a winter sports holiday. Nicolas Bresch, our Managing Director, emphasizes our family-focused approach and the seamless experiences we offer, from Easy Arrival to ski-in-ski-out resorts. Beyond skiing, our resorts present an array of adrenaline-pumping activities, ensuring an unforgettable getaway. Join us for an extraordinary winter adventure at Club Med!

The 2022/23 ski season in Europe faced challenges with scarce snowfall and rising temperatures, particularly in the Alps, making headlines. Club Med addressed this unpredictability with an enhanced Snow Guarantee for all winter sports bookings, building on the previous year's experiences. Regarding environmental impact during international holidays, surveyed individuals highlighted air pollution (44%) and energy consumption (44%) as the top concerns, followed by plastic waste (41%), deforestation (35%), and food waste (33%). The climate crisis has amplified sustainability awareness, with 60% of respondents considering a holiday provider's sustainability credentials before booking. Club Med's Happy To Care program aligns with these concerns, embodying the commitment to responsible tourism.

Booking Behaviours

For the 2023/24 ski season, skiers are eager to hit the slopes, but rising inflation is prompting earlier bookings to secure lower rates. Club Med observes 83% of bookings made six months in advance. The cost of living has led 54% to reconsider accommodation choices, with 61% favoring all-inclusive options. All-inclusive packages are popular, chosen by 38% of early bookings, contributing to a 10% year-on-year increase in bookings for this winter. Despite cost concerns, the average ski holiday spend is £1,580 per person, down by £399 from the previous year. Club Med offers a top-of-the-line, all-inclusive ski package, locking in prices at the time of booking to shield customers from added costs.
