Escape to the land of olive groves, white beaches and turquoise seas this summer with a luxury holiday in the Mediterranean. Here are some of our favourite Mediterranean destinations and the exciting attractions and excursions that should tempt you to explore beyond the beaches. We’ve also picked out our finest all-inclusive mediterranean resorts nearby, perfect for a sun, sea and exploration.

Sicily, Italy

Sicily is home to beautiful coastlines, delicious cuisine and local produce, and perhaps one of the most famous volcanoes in the world. Now a national park, Mount Etna is Europe’s largest active volcano with a surprisingly varied terrain to explore, from barren black volcanic landscapes to lush vineyards. You can take a slow sightseeing train around the many small towns dotted about the mountain or ride the cable car which stops some 400 metres shy of the crater’s accessible summit.
In contrast, the upscale tourist town of Taormina is home to more leisurely attractions, including the 3rd century amphitheatre Il Teatro Greco and streets lined with high-end boutiques and fashionable restaurants. Keep an eye out for wedding parties making the most of the spectacular views and competing for that ultimate statement wedding shot.
The ancient Greek colony of Syracuse, and in particular its historical centre on the island of Ortygia, is a lively place to explore, packed with pleasant piazzas, Baroque buildings and countless fascinating archaeological sites and museums.

Explore Sicily from the luxury of our 5-trident all-inclusive resort, Club Med Cefalù. Set atop the golden cliffs above Cefalù Bay, our resort is one of the best places to stay in Sicily. Enjoy the sunshine, savour refined Sicilian cuisine or rent a car from our concierge and explore the local countryside.

Evia, Greece

One of the largest Greek islands, Evia is a popular holiday spot for the Greeks themselves and so for many people, it has come to represent ‘the real Greece.’ Evia is something of a hiker’s paradise, with a number of unspoilt mountain ranges in the southern part of the island, including Greece’s second highest peak, Karystos. This mountain is full of ancient Roman quarries, green gorges and extraordinary Hellinistic houses or ‘drakospita’, once believed to be the lairs of dragons.
Back in civilisation, the island has plenty to do and explore. The spa town of Epidos is well known for its thermal hot springs, monasteries and traditional villages. Evia’s capital, Chalkida, draws visitors with its unique tidal phenomenon, where the strong currents create dramatic swirls on the surface of the Evripos Channel. The picturesque coastal resort of Eritrea boasts a cluster of major archaeological sites. Meanwhile the private island paradise of Pezonisi, known as ‘the island of dreams’, can be reached by crossing a small bridge from the mainland.

Our port resort of Gregolimano, perched dramatically on the white sandy headland of Evia, is perfect for exploring the island’s charms and enjoying a quiet holiday in Greece.

Kemer, Turkey

Kemer is a charming Mediterranean town in southern Turkey, tucked between the sea and lush green forests. Take a jeep safari around the Taurus Mountains for an unforgettable experience visiting mosques and village communities in the valleys, with plenty of opportunities to photograph the local flora and fauna.
The ancient city of Aspendos should also be high on your agenda. This extremely well-preserved 2,000 year old Ampitheatre is an awe-inspiring sight at any time, but if you can come in September you can witness the Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival, renowned as one of the world’s most prestigious events of its kind.
Afterwards, take a trip on a private yacht or a traditional wooden sailboat to the city of Phaselis, where you can enjoy the remarkable Roman and Byzantine ruins, before cooling off with a refreshing swim in the creeks and secluded bays nearby.

Make our all-inclusive Palmiye resort your home base for exploring this beautiful coastal town. One of the best places to go in Turkey for families, here you can enjoy delicious cuisine, your favourite beverages, kids clubs, and all day fun in the sun on our Mediterranean beach.
