France’s close proximity to the UK makes it an ideal holiday destination for families. When you have young children, spending long periods of time in a cramped, noisy plane is not a fun experience. But, with a holiday in France most flights are less than 2 hours. Or, you can completely avoid it altogether as most of our French resorts are accessible by car, with Vittel Le Parc, Ermitage and La Palmyre (via St Malo ferry) taking less than 5 hours 40 minutes to drive to including the ferry time. The journey time to Opio en Provence is slightly longer at 11 hours and 30 minutes but its location on the French Riveria makes it worth it!
France has always been a popular destination for a holiday so we are taking a closer look into what makes France such an ideal location for your Summer 2021 holiday.
France is renowned for its culinary expertise and the restaurants in our resorts do not disappoint. At our newly renovated La Palmyre Atlantique resort you can enjoy the freshest seafood accompanied by the local Charentais wines. If you are a wine lover you will definitely enjoy a vineyard tour of Charentes, home to the famous Cognac and Pineau. For a greater variety of cuisine visit Opio en Provence, where they serve freshly prepared international and innovative dishes, as well as local specialities such as tapenade and tian. The restaurants at Vittel Le Parc also offer international cuisine as well as specialities, but they also have ‘Baby Corner’ where parents can prepare meals for their little ones!
Our Vittel Golf Ermitage is a golf fanatics dream with a golfing school, driving range, putting green and access to both the Mont-Saint-Jean and Ile Verte 18-hole golf courses. As well as golf, there are other great activities on offer at Ermitage, whether you want to brush up on your skills or try new things such as horseriding, tennis and archery. Our other French resorts offer fun for the whole family, for example, at Opio children and adults can take part in circus school where they can learn fascinating skills, or for something more adventurous, they can take part in the treetop adventure course in the village. During those hot summer days you will want to cool off, so the water sports at La Palmyre are a great opportunity to do that while still making the most of your holiday, enjoy sports such as windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing!
Visit Opio for a taste of life on the French Riviera. Set on the hills above Cannes, you can enjoy a day exploring this historic town and stroll along the famous Croisette promenade. Or you can sail along the Côte d'Azur coastline to view the beauty of wild creeks or to simply experience the magical views of Monaco, Antibes and Saint Tropez.
Surrounded by the hundred year old trees of the Vosges, our Vittel Golf Ermitage benefits from beautiful views over the valley, but we would definitely recommend taking a trip to the town’s thermal baths for some much needed relaxation. For some family fun at La Palmyre, visit the local zoological park and marvel at the glory of the animal kingdom as you explore the various global zones such as the Savannah, the valley of the Great Apes and the Oceanic mammals.
Located in beautiful natural parkland, our elegant Vittel Le Parc resort is the ideal place for wellness treats and country breaks. Enjoy some fresh air and peace with a bike ride through the park and giant oak trees. Feel like royalty as you swim in the thermal palatial pool, complete with blue and white mosaics. Plus, with customised PAYOT treatments at the Club Med spa you really will be treated like a King or Queen!
Exercise is known for boosting your mood, as well as your health, and at Club Med we like to make the most of our outdoor areas, so why not enjoy a ‘fresh air course’ at Opio where you complete a fitness trail around the resort. Or, if you are at La Palmyre, you can take part in our beach bootcamp which means that you can get into shape while enjoying the calming sounds and smells of the sea.
