Berber villages (1 day)

«From the top of this mountain, I admired the citadel. At the sight of the mosque, I thought of the legend of the seven sleepers. In this region, I discovered the Berber peoples.»

As you come round a bend on the road that winds through the southern plateaus, the spectacular Berber village of Guermessa comes into sight. Built on two hills, the ruins of this ancient village served as a fortress against invaders. You'll be enchanted by the mosque and its curious tombs, the legendary "seven sleepers". A visit to the market at Tataouine will take you a little further into your journey into the heart of Berber culture.

The strange and ghostly Ksour region in the hills of Djebel Dahar is a cradle of Berber culture. You'll adore the souk at Tataouine, a tranquil little Far West-style village, and the Berber village of Chenini, with its houses hollowed out of the rock face that are slowly sinking into the ground. After lunch you'll visit the fortified granaries of Ksar-Hadada clustered like honeycomb in a beehive

Desert and Oasis (2 days)

During these two days in the Reg (desert of stone), you'll be enchanted by the beauty of Ksar Hallouf and its fabulous ghorfas. The camel ride takes you to the majestic dunes of the Sahara. A night in a Bedouin camp will allow you to observe the profound silence and ever-changing beauty of the desert. The next day, discover the village of Tamezret and the troglodyte village of Matmata where "Star Wars" was shot.

Island tour (1/2 day)

At Guellala you'll be charmed by the master potter as he shapes the clay with his fingers in front of you. At the Synagogue of El Ghriba you'll see one of the oldest Torahs in the world, and have time to do some shopping in the island's charming capital.

    Zarzis market (1/2 day)
