Ancient Thebes (2 days)

Recommended by our Discovery Centre.

Named "the city of a hundred doors" by Homer, this open-air museum is totally unique. Sacred city of Amon-Re, these two days in ancient Thebes will take you back to the days when this mythical figure visited Thebes each year in his golden boat. A guided visit with "son et lumière" of the splendid Temple, now called the Temple of Karnak, where the Pharohs reigned for 5 centuries. Sphinxes guard the road leading to the Temple of Luxor. The dignity of the two Pharaohs leaves an indelible impression of peace and eternity. On the opposite bank of the river lies the secret valley, the royal Necropolis of Thebes. The Valley of the Kings and Queens and the Temple of Hatchepsout invite the visitor to meditate, not so much on death but on eternal life. On the eastern bank of the Nile, facing the Necropolis, Luxor Club Med welcomes you for meals and for your overnight stay.
